Coco Cuddles is a brand that is creating a range of beautiful bed covers of colour and imagery for your little ones – making bedtime an exciting time. Vanessa first started out creating for her daughter and has since found a niche for her passion which she is now able to share with other mums.
What is your Business?
I custom design baby textiles and have launched my business with cot sheets, I will be expanding my range throughout the year to include a range of products including wraps and swaddles, bassinet covers, and other baby accessories.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am 30 years old, I have been married for 4 years and and have 2 children, Gabriella who is 3 and Joseph who is 1. Before I had my children I was working in Human Resources. I love dedicating time each morning to exercising, it is such an important part of my day.
How did the idea come about?
I have always wanted to be a business owner but I never had a business idea that I was passionate to grow. When I became a mum to Gabriella I enjoyed decorating her nursery and buying fun pieces for her room as she grew. It reminded me of when I was younger, I would decorate my own room and look for unique pieces to change the vibe in my bedroom. It was at this point I knew I wanted to design my own pieces and start Coco Cuddles.
What has been the most challenging aspect of owning your own business so far?
Wearing all the hats in the business. You don’t realise how much time you need to give to your business until you start and you realise the workload never really subsides. Each part of running the business needs time and dedication, and when you are a one-man-band your days can become very busy.
What has been the highlight of owning your business?
Seeing people use the pieces I have designed and the different ways they style their space with my designs. Knowing that my designs are being loved by other mums and their little ones around the country.
If you have one advice to give to another Mama wanting to start a business what will it be?
Go ahead and do it. Set little goals for yourself each day/week so you don’t become overwhelmed with the process. I spent a lot of time procrastinating and doubting myself. I am so happy I have finally launched and wish I had done it sooner. If you are passionate about your idea the only regret you will have is not giving it a go.
