Emily, raising two step sons as her own in her functional dysfunctional family (as she likes to call it),  is one of the most amazing humans i have come across. Big heart with big ideas her creativity will get her long  and far on this business journey. Read more about her and her business below.
What is your Business?
We are a small business that creates personalised embroidered baby and kids wear. From monograms, announcements to a collection of “my firsts” onesies we have all the holidays and special events covered. They are all one of a kind and are fully customized to your exact specifications. Each item is made just for you!! Which means you are getting exactly what you are looking for. Through the personal branding of monograms, we transfer our simple white organic cotton onesies into must-have cherished pieces you will admire for years to come. “If it isn’t monogrammed is it even yours”. Our pieces make great gifts for baby showers, sip n sees, new borns and our keepsake onesies make ideal Birth Announcements or a beautiful gift for new Mumma Bears …with this being said our pieces are tried and tested and are completely cold cycle machine washable making them perfect for daily wear.
A little bit about yourself.
I’m a 30 year old bonus mum to two boys aged 7 and 8, I am also a dog mumma to a little 2 year old Shih Tzu named Indie. I have been raising/ co-parenting my boys since they were 2 and 3, and am so blessed to have our high functioning dysfunctional family. I also work a full time job in local government. My life has always been driven by the pursuit of creativity and being an individual, something I try to also teach my boys in a world of being “cool”.
How did the idea come about?
Well where do I start, to be honest I was annoyed when it came to getting personalised/ monogrammed products for my boys and found most companies offering the products I was after were located in the USA… meaning big shipping charges at the time. So I decided one afternoon to buy an embroidery machine and see how I went. After many failed attempts and YouTube videos to figure out where I was going wrong, I started producing a better quality embroidery. It wasn’t until one night holding a basic baby onesie in my hand that I decided to give that a go… and bam that’s kind of where the entire thing started. Our first products were the monogrammed and keepsake announcement onesie and then it just went from there. As a mum I wanted a product that would stand up to the test of time (and the test of babies and washing machines) and I had seen so many decal onesies I thought it was time for something that wouldn’t wash away to hit to market. Something parents can keep long after their bubs have out grown it.
What has been the most challenging aspect of owning your own business so far?
Staying motivated… honestly I have found that the hardest part. With everything that life has given us over the past few years staying motivated has been the hardest part. With working from home, home schooling and just being mum it has been a hard time for everyone, especially when you are also trying to push you’re new brand and to continue on creating.
What has been the highlight of owning your business?
Having somewhere to channel my creative energy, be it through the designing of products or setting up shoots there is always something hands on and creative to do.
If you have one advice to give to another Mama wanting to start a business what will it be?
Just do it… seriously no one ever achieved anything by just wishing for it, you honestly need to go out on a limb and just do it. Have faith in your product (even more so if it is something you have created), stay true to yourself and the vision for your brand, and don’t be afraid to fail a few times in the process… life isn’t cookie cutter perfect and neither is starting a business.
